Description
This barn, built around 1880 by G. Devey, is located in the orchard 5 meters west of the estate office at Longwood. It features a brick exterior that encases a timber frame and has an old plain tile roof. The barn consists of seven bays, with an aisle at the rear and a large midstray door in the center bay. The right three bays include double doors in the center bay, with ventilation slits on either side, and an additional door next to the large midstray doors. The left three bays have a cartshed attached to the left bay, windows in the center bay, and double doors under a segmental headed arch to the right. The roof is hipped. Inside, there is a queen post roof with main posts on the aisled side, which rest on brick piers and have aisled ties halfway up, along with braces. The timber has an adzed surface. Attached to the right is a single-storey L-shaped brick building that contains a well and pumping gear, although the engine has been removed.
