Description

The barn at Mays Farm is a timber-frame structure dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. It is primarily timber-framed and weatherboarded, with a base of brick and flint, and covered by an asbestos pantile roof. The original section of the barn, dating to the 17th century, comprises three bays arranged in an aisle layout, extending all around. Two further bays were added in the 18th century to the left side of the original structure. The central bays of the 17th-century section contain inset double doors, recessed beneath a wallplate, with weatherboarded reveals. The roof is hipped.
