Description

Douglas Cottages is a pair of cottages built around 1880, possibly designed by G. Devey for Lord Northesk. The ground floor features flint with brick dressings, while the first floor is constructed with timber framing and plaster infill, topped with a plain tile roof. Each cottage is two stories high and consists of a single bay. At the end of each cottage, there is a segmental arch leading to a porch, with the door located out of sight on the inner side. The lower floor includes a three-light mullioned and transomed window with diamond cast iron casements in the lower lights, and above it, there is a two-light window with a gabled dormer. A moulded brick string runs along the first floor, and a tablet is situated in the center. The roof is half-hipped and features a large central brick stack with raised strips and bands, along with an offset head.
