Description

99 and 100 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 15th century and was altered in the 16th and 17th centuries, with restoration in the 20th century. The building is timber-framed with upright bracing, which is exposed and filled with plaster. It has a plain tiled roof and features an irregular front as part of an L-shaped block that faces both High Street and Keere Street.

The north front, facing High Street, has three gables, with the right gable being hipped and projecting. There are two half-hipped wings in the center, and the roof slopes to the right. The rear has two large stacks. The right side has three storeys, while the left side has two. There is an underbuilt jetty on the ground floor to the left and on the projecting wing to the right, supported by curved brackets over the ground and first floors. The fenestration is irregular, featuring three wood-framed lattice casements on the second floor and three on the first floor, along with two shop fronts on the ground floor. The central shop front includes a half-glazed door with a small window to the left, all under a pentice hood.

The east front, facing Keere Street, showcases curved and upright bracing above the underbuilt jetty. This side has two storeys and features a two-window front with a half-glazed door to the right. Inside, there are surviving elements from the 16th century, including a fireplace and panelling.
