Description
The Devonshire Arms Inn is a public house built in the mid-19th century. It features a combination of rendered and coursed squared gritstone, with gritstone dressings and quoins. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there is a projecting plain eaves band. The building has stone gable end and ridge stacks, with the stacks on the eastern section featuring plain bands. The gables are stone-coped with plain kneelers.
The inn has a T-plan layout, consisting of a tall eastern section with a gabled cross wing and a lower two-storey western range that has five bays. The projecting cross wing on the east side has two glazing bar sashes set in flush surrounds. On the west side, there is a moulded doorcase with a flat hood above, and three glazing bar sashes located above it. The lower range to the west includes two 2-light flush mullion windows with glazing bar sashes, along with a flush doorcase and three additional glazing bar sashes beyond in flush surrounds. The eastern section features three large glazing bar sashes, and on the west side, there is a large signboard that covers one window. The eastern side also has five glazing bar sashes, with the two central ones placed side by side.
