Description
Meri Cottage and Nos 2, 3, and 4 are a row of four cottages built in 1777, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The cottages are constructed from pebbledashed stone, featuring painted stone dressings and gritstone quoins, topped with a slate roof. They have stone ridge and gable end stacks, and the eastern gable is stone-coped with a kneeler.
The cottages are two storeys high, each with a single bay. The south elevation has a central doorcase with a flush surround, leading to a 19th-century glazed and panelled door. There is an inserted door to the east of this entrance. On either side of the doors, there are 2-light flush mullion windows, with two similar windows above. Between these upper windows is a datestone inscribed with 'CTJ 1777'. To the east, there is a hooded doorcase with moulded imposts, leading to a casement window with a plain surround, and a similar window above. The westernmost cottage features a flush doorcase and window surround, with a glazed panelled door and a 20th-century top hung casement, along with a similar window above.
