Description
The Old School House is a schoolhouse that has been converted into a dwelling, built in 1758. It features coursed limestone and gritstone rubble with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped with a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and two bays. The central entrance has a quoined doorcase with a bracketed stone hood, and the lintel is inscribed with 'The Old School House'. On either side of the entrance are two-light flush mullion windows, both fitted with new mullions and plank shutters. The square leaded lights have top hung casements that may be contemporary. Above these, there are two similar but shallower windows at the eaves, also with diamond leaded lights. Between the upper windows, there is a stone plaque with a moulded top and base, inscribed 'RE 1758'.
