Description

The Old Vicarage, now a house, was built in 1780 and has been altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped with a plain tile roof. The building features gable end stone stacks with simple cornices and stands three storeys high with three bays. The central doorcase has flush jambs and lintels, with a moulded hood supported by stone brackets. On either side of the door, there were originally 2-light flush mullion windows, which have been replaced with 20th-century small pane windows. Above the door, there are two similar windows, and a narrower window in a wide plain surround with a moulded hood. Above this, there is a stone plaque with an oval disc and small floral decoration, inscribed with the year '1780'. On either side of the building, there are 20th-century casements in 18th-century openings that were formerly mullioned. A 19th-century wing is located at the rear.

In front of the house, there is an attached limestone rubble garden wall with gritstone copings. The wall is high and curves downwards to the front. To the south, there is a four-step mounting block attached to the wall, and to the north, the wall rises again and curves around the garden adjacent to the village green.
