Description

Rainowlow Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, although it has undergone extensive alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed, squared, buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof with a stone ridge and two stone chimneys. Originally rectangular in plan, the farmhouse now has an L-shaped layout due to the 20th-century additions.

The south front is two storeys high and has two bays, with the right end bay stepping forward slightly. All the windows are from the 20th century and interrupt a projecting rubble band at the first floor. At the rear, there is a rubble hood mould.

Inside, the farmhouse includes a chamfered fire beam and ceiling beams. There is one notable two-panelled door with raised fields, along with one one-panelled door and another two-panelled door, both featuring moulding around the panels. One of the rooms serves as a dairy, complete with stone slabs.

Additionally, the attached east garden rubble wall contains two bee-boles with flagged backs and lintels. The farmhouse is listed for its group value only.
