Description
Lower Pedleyhill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th century and early 20th century. It is constructed from washed coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, and three brick chimneys. The building has a two-storey, three-bay front. The left end bay, which is an 18th-century addition, has two-light horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars. A buttress separates this bay from the original two bays, which contain one two-light horizontal sliding sash, while the remaining openings have been enlarged in the 20th century.
Inside, the original house was L-shaped, comprising two living rooms and a shippon at the rear. The partition walls are timber framed with wattle and daub infill. The living rooms feature weakly ovolo-moulded beams with flat stops, while the shippon has a deeply chamfered beam and a beam with slots for the "bosgains" or cow stalls.
