Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a cottage. It dates from the 17th century, with a 19th-century brick addition and some 20th-century alterations. The building features a combination of timber framing and brick, topped with a Kerridge stone-slate roof and two brick chimneys. It has an L-shaped plan, with the brick addition located in the corner. The two-storey, three-bay front includes four small timber frames with brick nogging on the right side. A central gabled brick porch contains a two-board door with iron strap hinges and an iron lock plate. The left end bay is brick and features wooden casements. Inside, the timber framing is almost intact, and the accommodation consists of one room with chamfered ceiling beams. One room was previously used as a shippon, with slots in the ceiling beam for cowstalls or bosgains. The roof truss consists of a tiebeam and collar, along with through purlins and a ridge. A brick garage added to the right is not included in the listing.
