Description
Woodlands is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 17th century, with later additions from the late 17th century, 18th century, and 19th century. The original section is timber framed with wattle and daub infill, while the additions are made of rubble stone and brick, all of which have been overpainted in black and white. The building has an L-shaped plan and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof with two brick chimneys.
The east front has two storeys and consists of four by three small timber frames with angle braces supporting the wall plate, along with the remains of a chamfered wooden doorcase. To the left, there is a rubble extension with three small windows that retain some lattice leaded glazing. The south range includes a former dairy and shippon.
Inside, the property boasts heavy, chamfered ceiling beams and herring boning in the gables. There are parts of a 17th-century shaped flat baluster staircase included in a later copy. The later 17th-century extension features remains of a fire beam and a massive fireplace.
