Description
Lima Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that underwent significant alterations in 1833. It is constructed from coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof with a stone ridge and two stone gable chimneys. The building has a double-pile plan and is two stories high with a symmetrical three-bay front. The end bays are highlighted by large windows with fixed glazing bars, and each has a panel of four horizontally sliding windows beneath hammer-dressed lintels. An open gabled porch has a partial ashlar front with a heavily moulded lintel, and behind it is a four-board door with iron strap hinges, along with a smaller but similar window above. The rear left end bay contains a four-light chamfered stone mullion window, while the central bay features a similar four-light window and a two-light window above, both of which are partly blocked.
The interior has not been seen, but it is reported to have timber-framed partition walls with stone flagged infill and heavy ceiling beams. The farmhouse showcases a double-pile plan with 17th-century style mullioned windows and interior details.
