Description
The shippon and granary at Lima Farmhouse is likely from the late 17th century, with later alterations and a 19th-century addition of a carthouse. It is constructed from coursed squared buff sandstone rubble, topped with a Kerridge stone-slate roof and a stone ridge. The building has a long rectangular plan and features a two-storey, seven-bay front. The left end serves as a shippon, while the right side has a door leading to the granary on the upper storey, which is accessed by a pair of flights of stone steps. Adjacent to the door is a small two-light stone-mullioned window with leaded glazing. The remaining openings are rectangular, with some featuring sub-triangular lintels and others having heavy wooden frames. The right end bay includes a cart entrance with a rock-dressed elliptical headed doorcase. There is also access to an under storey from the left side and rear. Inside, the building has a timber-framed and brick nogged partition wall, along with many heavy beams, some of which are cambered.
