Description

The barn and shippon at Hedgerow Farm, likely built in the early 18th century, is constructed from dry stone buff sandstone rubble with projecting through stones. It features a Kerridge stone slate roof with a stone ridge. The east front has two doors; one has a wooden lintel with a projecting rubble course above it, while the other is set in a hammer-dressed surround. Between the doors are two square pitch holes and several ventilation slots. This structure represents a late example of dry stone wall construction, similar to earlier barns found at Rainowlow Farm and Wright's Farm in Kettleshulme.
