Description
The barn at Woodseats Farm, located approximately 25 metres to the north-east of the house, is a structure likely dating from the 17th century. It features a cruck frame and is built of coursed gritstone rubble with a stone slate roof. The barn consists of 4½ bays and has an outshut on the left side. Some quoins are present. The front includes a cart door with a buttress on the right and a cowhouse door with a wooden lintel to the far right. At the rear, there is a former cart door that is mostly blocked, along with additional buttresses.
Inside, the barn has a stone-paved threshing floor and three pairs of crucks that rise from above the floor. It has double purlins with some wind braces and a square-set ridge on a saddle at the apex. The left truss does not have a tie beam, although halvings remain, while the other trusses feature purlin ties. The right end has a king post truss, and there are pegged ears remaining for the har-hung cart doors.
