Description
The barn at Woodhouse Farm is a building that dates from the 16th or 17th century and is now used for storage. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a plain tile roof. Originally a single-storey structure, it has been raised to two storeys. The front facing the road has a deep plinth made of 19th or 20th-century brick with breather slits. The upper timber-framed section has close studding, a middle rail, and seven passing tension braces that extend from the ground sill to the wall plate. There are two cart doorways, one at the far right and another to the right of the center, both of which are now blocked. The ends of the barn have 19th-century brick additions. The rear has a similar deep brick plinth and 20th-century metal-framed windows below the close-studded upper section, which also has brick infill and the same seven passing tension braces. There are cart doors on the left and left of center, both now blocked as well. Inside, a 19th-century floor has been inserted, and there are jowelled posts supporting six trusses with angle braces, along with two original gable trusses featuring queen posts. The roof has chamfered purlins and renewed laths, with two long passing wind braces on each side running from the eaves to the ridge.
