Description
Lode Close and the attached outbuilding is a farmhouse and agricultural building that was remodeled in the mid-19th century but incorporates some earlier elements. The structure is built from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped with a clay tile roof featuring coped verges. It has coursed and squared rubble integral end stacks. The house is located to the east and is slightly recessed from the attached agricultural building to the west.
The house has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, featuring two windows with glazing bar sashes in raised surrounds, and a central door with a straight dripstone above it. The agricultural building has a loft opening to the right and a loft ventilation loop to the left.
On the rear elevation, the house displays slightly irregular fenestration with ground floor windows on the left and right, and first floor windows to the left of center and on the right, all of which are glazing bar sashes. The windows on the right have straight dripstones. The limestone quoins on the right, center, and lower part of the left corner indicate that an earlier single-cell building was extended to the south and rebuilt in the mid-19th century using grit stone quoins and dressings. The agricultural building features a blocked door on the ground floor to the left and a loft ventilation loop to the right.
