Description

Lode Cottage and the attached wall are mid-19th century structures located on Lode Lane in Alstonefield. The cottage is built from coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a clay tile roof. It has a two-cell plan with a gable end entry and stands two storeys high, with two windows that include glazing bar sashes. The ground floor has a right-side window that opens with a glazing bar. To the right, there is a low lean-to extension with shaped tile bands on the roof. On the left, there is a coped wall approximately three yards long, which has a door leading to a small courtyard. The cottage has significant group value with Lode Close.
