Description
The Old House is an 18th-century house located on the north side of Main Street in the parish of Winster. It is constructed of rubble limestone with a gritstone front, featuring projecting quoins, moulded kneelers, coped gables, end ridge brick stacks, and a Welsh slated roof. The building stands three storeys high and has three bays, with glazing bar sashes set into stone frames. An eaves band course connects the window heads on the second floor. The central doorway has a heavy quoined surround and a semi-circular stone hood above the lintel, which is supported by moulded brackets. The door itself is six-panelled, with the upper two panels being glazed. The ground floor windows have been replaced with 20th-century joinery, including a semi-circular bay window on the west side. The house is listed for its group value only.
