Description

The gate piers and flanking walls to the Dower House date from the late 17th century. The gate piers are made of gritstone and are square in shape, featuring carved decorations such as grotesque masks, foliage, cartouches, guttae, and serpents. Each pier is topped with a square moulded cap. These piers are connected to a boundary wall constructed from large ashlar gritstone and rubble limestone, which has shallow hogsback copings.
