Description
Kirby House and the attached shop are 18th-century structures located on the south side of Main Street in the parish of Winster. They are built from coursed rubble gritstone and feature quoins, coped gables, and a coved eaves band. The buildings have a Welsh slate roof and stand three storeys tall with three bays. Originally, they had glazing bar sashes in plain stone frames, but the second floor now has 20th-century frames, and the first-floor openings at the west end have also been altered. The shop front at the west end is from the 19th century and includes a half-glazed door. There is a 19th-century doorway at the east end that has been blocked to create a window. An off-centre doorway with a quoined surround and a massive lintel leads into the building, featuring a six-panelled door with the upper two panels glazed.
