Description
This barn, located 20 meters east of Hillylees Farmhouse, dates back to 1701 and features mid-19th century alterations. It is constructed from coursed stone and has large ashlar quoins and lintels, topped with a stone slate roof. The barn has a hay loft above the byre and a two-level front that includes four openings: one hay loft door with shutters on the left and three hay loft doors on the right. The ground floor has three top-hung casement windows alternating with two stable doors, with a concrete lintel above the left-hand window. There are vents on both floors, and a datestone inscribed with "SWN" is located to the left of the door, along with "TH 1701 W."
