Description
This is a barn located approximately 15 meters south of Windygates Hall, dating from the late 18th century, with additions from the mid-19th century and 20th century. The barn is constructed of coursed stone and features a stone slate roof on the upper end, along with blue machine tile roofs. It has two levels, consisting of a hay loft above a byre, and is divided into three sections that step down the incline to the west.
The upper range, which is from the 18th century, includes two hay loft doors above two casement windows with concrete lintels on the ground floor. There are boarded doors to the right of each window, with one door featuring a heavy stone lintel at the extreme right. The central range has one hay loft door that is offset to the left and is dated "WH" on the lintel above a boarded door, with top-hung casements from 1867 to the left and right of the door, staggered along the gradient line. The lower range on the right is a single-storey addition from the 20th century, featuring a sliding boarded double door. Stone steps lead to the hay loft, located on the left gable.
