Description

This guidepost, likely dating from the late 18th century, is made of square gritstone and stands approximately 5 feet tall, though its upper corner is missing. It features weathered directional inscriptions: the south face indicates 'CHESTE/RFEILD (sic.) ROAD' with a pointing hand, the east face shows 'SHEAF/FEILD (sic)' with a hand, and the north face reads 'BAKEW/ELL ROAD' with a hand. The west face is blank. This guidepost is one of a pair, with the other located 400 meters to the north-northwest.
