WALTON SK36NW WELL LANE 1264-0/5/134 (North side) Outbuilding to east of Cairngorm

Farm outbuilding. Dated 1721. Coursed rubble coal measures sandstone with ashlar dressings, and a stone slated roof. Single storey with overlofts. South elevation of three bays, with central quoined doorway beneath a massive lintel. Inscribed plaque above doorway reads 'W & M 1721'. To the west of the doorway, a substantial raking buttress, to the east, a lower and shallower masonry projection against the base of the wall. East bay with a plain doorway beneath a shallow lintel. Rear elevation with long catslide roof covering lean-to projection from eastern half of the building. Quoined taking-in door to overloft in east gable, beneath massive lintel. Later window opening to ground floor, and plain doorway to offshut.
