Description

Manor Farmhouse is a former farmhouse with attached dairy and barn to the right, along with further outbuildings at the rear. It dates from the mid-18th century but has earlier origins and has been altered and extended over time. The building is constructed of dressed limestone with sandstone dressings, topped by a pantile roof and featuring brick stacks. The cruck-framed barn to the right has coursed rubble walls and a pantile roof.

The farmhouse originally had a lobby-entry plan, consisting of one room deep with a kitchen in the rear extension and a dairy to the right. It is a two-storey structure with a symmetrical two-window front and quoins. The central entrance has a stone surround with a triple-grooved keyblock, but the original door has been replaced by a half-glazed panel with glazing bars. The other windows are four-pane sashes, and all openings have raised surrounds. The gables are coped, with moulded kneelers and end stacks.

Inside, the room to the right features a high stone fireplace that is crudely carved and likely predates the house. It has a flat stone arch with a triple keystone supported on consoles over engaged column jambs. In the attached barn to the right, a pair of upper crucks have survived the later heightening of the roof.
