7/54 Beckside Farmhouse with attached cottage and outbuilding GV II

Farmhouse with extensions. 1813, dated on overdoor panel with initials J & M.V. Extensions slightly later to rear, projecting cottage at left probably mid C19. Coursed, squared tooled sandstone; pantiled roofs with stone copings, kneelers and stacks. Farmhouse and cottage 2 storeys, 2 bays each. Farmhouse has altered, part- glazed door and C20 pivoted windows under deep wedge lintels with chevron tooling; projecting cills. Cottage has 4-panel door with overlight and sash windows with glazing bars. Swept roofs have copings on moulded kneelers, corniced end chimneys. Rear elevation shows 1-storey kitchen extension at right with plinth and through- passage door. (Can this be the remains of an earlier farmhouse on a different alignment?). Longer 1-storey left wing holds boiler- house and cross-gabled cowhouse at end.

Interior: winder stair with stick balusters; 6-panel doors.
