Description
Street Methodist Chapel is a chapel with a manse that has been converted into a private house. It dates back to 1789, as indicated by a plaque over the porch, but it consists of two builds, with the northern manse bay likely being a slightly later addition. The building is constructed from coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a graduated roof made of Lakeland and Welsh slate.
The east front facing the road has one tall storey with two bays on the left and two storeys with one bay on the right. The entrance is located in the right return of a small gabled porch situated between the first and second bays. There is a house door on the right and a small shuttered window beyond it. Steps lead down to the porch, and there is a basement area on the left. The chapel section has two tall, keyed, round-arched windows with glazing bars and interlaced heads. The right return displays a basement storey with a boarded door and a small pent outhouse. Both floors above feature sash windows with glazing bars. The left return is blank above a stepped plinth.
The west front has two similar round-arched chapel windows, which also have keyed relieving arches above them, and a sash window in the domestic part, located above a low fixed light. The roof has stone ridge and gable copings, along with a corniced stack on the north side. Rooflights have been inserted on the west (Welsh) roof slope.
