Description
High Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house, consisting of two sections built in the late 18th century and early 19th century. The older part is made of herringbone-tooled sandstone, while the later section and a small extension on the right have rougher tooling. The roofs are covered with pantiles. The building has two storeys, with two bays on the left side, a lower two-storey one-bay section on the right, and a one-storey bay that was formerly an outbuilding. There is a 20th-century glazed door in the second bay, and the windows are 16-pane sashes that have been adapted to pivot at the upper parts. A small fire window is located at the ground floor on the right. The left part features openings with thick extended wedge lintels that have reeded tooling, as well as similar tooling on the sills. The left side has a steeply-pitched swept roof with stone copings and square kneelers, while the right side has a lower pitch.
Inside, there is a good staircase with chamfered balusters, a ramped handrail, and shaped tread ends. The interior also includes six-panel doors and original beams, along with cupboards flanking a modern fireplace.
