Description

LOFTUS MARS LANE NZ 71 SW (west side), Scaling. 3/55 Marsh Farmhouse and adjoining cart shed and stable. - II Farmhouse and cart shed and stable adjoining rear of right wing, c.1850. Hammer-dressed sandstone. Welsh slate roof with stone ridge and gable copings and moulded kneelers. 2 storeys and attic, 3 windows with single- bay lean-to coach house and service wings at left and right ends. Central 4-panel door. Sash windows with glazing bars and painted sills. Blocked windows painted to represent sashes in coach house at left. Service wing has ground-floor sash window with glazing bars, mid/late C20 casement in original opening on first floor and late C20 casement inserted at left. End stacks. Chamfered garret lights with sashes in end returns. Coach house has elliptical-headed coach entrance with voussoirs and impost blocks at rear. Single-storey cart shed and stable have segmental-headed cart entrance at left and boarded doors at right and on first floor, in west face. Byre adjoining north end of cart shed is too much altered to be of special interest.
