Description
Marsh Farmhouse, along with the adjoining cart shed and stable, dates from around 1850 and is constructed from hammer-dressed sandstone. The building features a Welsh slate roof with stone ridge and gable copings, as well as moulded kneelers. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has three windows, complemented by a single-bay lean-to coach house and service wings on the left and right ends. The central entrance is a four-panel door, and the windows are sash style with glazing bars and painted sills. There are blocked windows that are painted to resemble sashes in the coach house on the left. The service wing includes a ground-floor sash window with glazing bars, a mid to late 20th-century casement window in the original opening on the first floor, and a late 20th-century casement inserted on the left. The building has end stacks and chamfered garret lights with sashes in the end returns. The coach house features an elliptical-headed coach entrance with voussoirs and impost blocks at the rear. The single-storey cart shed and stable have a segmental-headed cart entrance on the left and boarded doors on the right and on the first floor of the west face. The byre adjoining the north end of the cart shed has been altered too much to be of special interest.
