Description
The structure consists of a wall, cross-base, and grave cover located west of Handale Abbey Farmhouse in Loftus. The cross-base and grave cover are medieval, while the wall is late medieval. The cross-base and grave cover are made of sandstone. The wall is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble and features a cement coping. It runs east-west with a short return to the south. The grave cover is tapered with worn carvings, and the stepped cross-base has a socket on the south side of the wall. The wall may include medieval masonry from the nearby site of the Cistercian Priory. A timber shed at the south-west angle of the wall is not of interest.
