Description

The boundary wall between the Kingdom Hall and Dam Street in Loftus dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble on the east face and brick with dressed sandstone buttresses on the west side. The wall features a steep ramp that curves up towards the Kingdom Hall and has curved-topped copings. Its height varies, measuring between 3.6 meters at the north end and 6 meters in the middle. The wall has offset buttresses, but three courses of stone and copings are missing from the south end at the time of the survey. This wall is an important feature in the townscape, prominently visible in views of the town from the south.
