NZ 60 NE DANBY DANBY DALE West side

6/32 Stable and byre with loft to north-east of Forest Lodge Farmhouse GV II

Stable and adjoining lofted byre. Stable dated 1849 L.D., byre dated 1867 L. Dale, on lintels. Coursed roughly-tooled and herringbone-tooled sandstone; pantiled roofs. Stable 1 storey, 3 wide bays. 3 stable doors, the central under dated lintel. Small blocked window above and slit above right-hand door, where building is higher as land slopes down, so probably lofted at this end, where it adjoins byre: 1 storey and loft with basement at far right, 6 irregular bays. 2 small windows, 2 loft doors and 2 blocked basement feeding chutes indicating pigsties. All openings have heavy lintels, mostly slightly shouldered. Roofs have stone copings and anachronistic square kneelers.
