Description
Bligh's Restaurant is a house with a restaurant that dates from the late 18th century. It was raised to three storeys, likely in the late 19th century, and the attic was further raised in the 20th century. The gable end facing the road is finished in pebbledash, while the other elevations have incised render. The roof is plain tiled with rendered chimneys.
The front of the building has three storeys and a set-back attic, featuring one bay. The restaurant frontage includes a central door flanked by two-light windows, all of which have glazing bars. Above this is a shaped fascia board. The upper floors feature early 20th-century sash windows with external shutters, and there is a similar sash window in the recessed attic gable. Two chimneys are set back from the eaves.
On the left side, the building steps in at the second-floor level, displaying three bays with modern transomed casements on the ground floor and 20th-century sashes above. This building is included for its group value.
