Description

This is a milepost located approximately 30 metres south of High Lodge in Scawton, dating from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape. The left face indicates a distance of 9 miles to Thirsk, while the right face shows a distance of 5 miles to Helmsley. The sloping upper face is marked with "NRYCC."
