Walled Garden With Gates Immediately South Of Rhinefield Hunting Lodge

The walled garden with gates, located immediately south of Rhinefield Hunting Lodge, was built around 1890 by W.H. Romaine-Walker, possibly in the early 1900s. It features brick construction with some stone dressings and wrought iron gates. The wall measures approximately 150 meters by 200 meters and stands about 3 meters high, with one longer side facing the stable block of Rhinefield Hunting Lodge and the other side closest to the house. The side adjacent to the stable block slopes down to a height of 1.5 meters in front of the courtyard. Within the garden, there are two single wrought-iron garden gates and a tiled shed built against the wall. The wall continues in front of the entrance to the stable block, featuring another single wrought-iron gate with walls sloping down to it on either side. This gate is mirrored by another on the opposite wall. The front wall has stone square-plan piers in the center, topped with ball finials, and between them is a pair of wrought-iron gates with an overthrow. On the opposite wall, there is a single wrought-iron gate. On the side closer to the house, there is an additional enclosed garden surrounded by a low wall and hedges.
