9/7 Canal with flight of steps and fountain, south of 28.7.86 Rhinefield House Hotel

GV II

Canal with flight of steps down to it, fountain in centre. 1888-90 by WH Romaine-Walker and Tanner. Stone canal coping and steps, marble fountain. 100m long canal, bowed at each end and bows on either side in centre with fountain between in middle. At house end flight of 5 outward spreading steps running from terrace in front of house down to canal. Fountain of square plinth to lower bowl with 4 console brackets in, supporting carved stem of upper bowl, itself having pedestal surmounted by bowl.
