Description

Rhinefield Hunting Lodge is a stable block that has been converted into a house, built around 1890, possibly in the early 1900s, by WH Romaine-Walker. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings, featuring tile-hung first-floor walls, a half-timbered gable, and a plain tile roof. It has a U-shaped plan surrounding a courtyard, with the open side facing a walled garden.

The entrance side is 1½ storeys high and turns a corner to become single-storey ranges. The entrance front consists of three bays, with a projecting porch on the left-hand side that has a four-centred arch, diagonal buttresses, and battlements. The right-hand bay has a wide tile-hung first floor with two gabled dormers. This bay also features a jettied tile-hung first floor at a higher level and a five-light oriel window under a gable. There are moulded brick stacks at the left end in the centre and on the ridge behind the right bay. Completing the range is a single-storey, hip-roofed two-bay section at the left end.
