Description
The fountain located 100 meters southeast of the southeast front of Grove Place House is a late 19th-century feature set in a pool. It has a stone surround and a stone and marble fountain. The pool measures 4 meters in diameter and is bordered by a raised moulded stone surround. At the center of the fountain, a head is held up by a mermaid on a wide flat bowl, which tapers down to a column supported by four mermaids on dolphins. This fountain lies on the central axis path leading from the house through the formal gardens. It is situated in the second garden and is aligned with another axial path at right angles, which has statues at each end. The fountain is included for its group value.
