Description

The fountain located 20 metres northwest of the front door to Ascott House is an ornamental garden feature dating from around 1890. It is made of carved marble and designed in the Renaissance style. The fountain has a wide basin supported by a stem that is intricately carved with acanthus leaves and putti. It stands on a square plinth adorned with swags and has a curved base. It is important to note that the fountain is not in its original position. It was illustrated in Country Life magazine in 1900 on page 243.
