Description
Ascott Green Cottages are a pair of cottages designed in 1876 by George Devey for Leopold de Rothschild. They are built of red brick featuring irregular large blue diaper patterns on the ground floor, with whitewashed render and half-timbering above. The gables have some fish-scale tile-hanging. The cottages have a tiled roof with ornamental bargeboards and pendent finials, along with two brick chimneys that have square shafts. The design is picturesque, comprising one and a half storeys and four bays.
The windows are casements with diamond leading. The right bay is gabled and projects outward, featuring a square bay window on the ground floor, a canted oriel with a coved base on the first floor, and an overhanging upper gable. The left bay includes a three-light casement on the ground floor. The second bay has a two-storey canted bay window with a hipped roof. The third bay contains three-light casements, with the upper window set in a gabled semi-dormer. There are entries on the sides, with the right entry located in a gabled timber porch that has depressed arches.
