Description

The gates and gate piers at the north entrance to Ascott House are a Grade II listed structure designed by George Devey after 1874. The entrance features double wooden gates that have ornamental slats with pierced quatrefoils on the lower half and open quatrefoils with wrought iron scrolls on the upper part. The square-plan gate piers are made of brick and topped with stone caps and ornamental globe lamps. Each pier has an oval stone tablet on the front displaying the Rothschild device of crossed arrows.
