Description
The walled garden at the Manor House, located to the southwest of the house, is an early 18th-century structure. It encloses a square garden that covers approximately 2 acres. The wall is made of brown brick, standing about 9 feet high, and is constructed in Flemish bond. The northwest side, facing Mongeham Road, features 9 pilasters, with the base having been renewed in 20th-century brickwork. On the southeast side, there is a late 18th-century or early 19th-century doorcase with a flush panelled door that opens into the garden, accompanied by 3 pilasters. The southwest side is free-standing to the south but connects to the lower wall of a barn to the north, which is not of special interest. This section includes a straight joint, a cross-shaped iron tie, and 2 square iron ties. The northeast section of the wall is built in English bond and has a blocked cambered headed entrance.
