Description
Mill Cottage and the attached service courtyard date from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of yellow brick with red brick dressings, featuring some fishscale tile hanging and plain and fishscale tile bands on the roof. The road-facing side has a single-storey, three-bay entrance leading to the courtyard, with Abbey Mill at one end and a two-storey, three-bay Mill Cottage forming another side of the courtyard at right angles.
The front of Mill Cottage includes a central gabled porch with a plank door. On one side, there is a three-light casement window, and on the other side, a two-light casement window. Above, there are three two or three-light casements set in a hipped dormer. A large central chimney stack is present. The roadside elevation features a one-and-a-half-storey gabled central gatehouse with a segmental archway, above which is a band of tile hanging, followed by a jettied tile-hung gable with a two-light casement. The flanking bays have openings with segmental heads, either boarded or fitted with windows.
