Description
No. 56 on High Street is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century, was rebuilt in the 18th century, and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with brick infill at the rear, while the rest of the structure is encased in brick, topped with an old plain tile roof. The cottage is two stories high and has three bays. The front of the building includes two plank doors in the center bay, along with a three-light casement window beneath a long timber lintel. To the left, there is a two-light casement window, and to the right, a two-light segmental-head casement window. On the first floor, there are two two-light casements and another in the right-hand bay. The roof is hipped to the left, and there is a stack located above the front wall between the left-hand and center bays, as well as another stack on the rear wall of the right-hand bay.
