Description
Nos 1 and 2 Nelson Lodge is a lodge, now divided into two dwellings, built in 1864 for A R Drummond. It is constructed of yellow brick with a slate roof and is an L-shaped building with one and a half storeys. The main wing has three bays, while the smaller wing has two bays. The front facing the road features a slightly projecting left-hand gabled bay. In front of this bay is a gabled porch with a segmental head opening. Above the porch is a tabled inscription reading 'ARD 1864'. The centre bay contains a three-light transomed window with a segmental head, diamond panes, and a red brick hood mould. The right-hand bay has pilasters on either side of a similar window. On the roof above these bays is a gabled dormer with a two-light transomed window featuring diamond panes. There are ridge stacks on each side of the centre bay, which consist of several square-section shafts, and the roof is finished with combed ridge tiles.
