Description

Eskmeals is a house dated 1761, with the inscription "I & BB/1761" on its pediment. It is currently unoccupied as of 1988. The building features roughcast stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs. The west elevation has two storeys, with a three-bay center flanked by a two-bay recessed wing to the north and a lower two-bay recessed wing to the south. The central section has quoins and a cornice, and all gables are coped with kneelers. The windows are sashed with glazing bars, with a tripartite sashed window on the ground floor of the north wing and irregularly spaced windows on the south wing.

The central entrance is highlighted by a gabled porch with angle pilasters, and the entrance itself features moulded reveals and a pediment, along with a half-glazed door. There are four gable-end stacks. The rear of the house includes a gabled wing with a stack and some sashed windows; the south wing has a lean-to outshut and a single-storey service wing, which contains a six-fielded panel door and a window with small-paned fixed glazing.

Inside, there are some plaster panels with a dado, a fireplace with a Regency grate, an elliptical-headed recess with reeded pilasters and a shell motif, and a staircase with moulded square balusters. The south wing features stop-chamfered beams and doors with H-L hinges, one of which has strap hinges and an ornate handle.
