Description
Pennington House is a house with a core dating from the 17th century, which was refronted in the 18th century and remodelled in the 19th century. It is constructed of wet-dashed rubble and features a steeply-pitched graduated slate roof with a stone ridge. The house has two storeys and five symmetrical bays. The central entrance consists of a panelled door beneath a moulded hemispherical canopy, with two sash windows in segment-headed surrounds on either side of each floor. There are massive, stepped, and rendered chimneys at each end of the building. Inside, there are some early panelled doors and an 18th-century round-headed cupboard. The cut-string staircase at the centre rear has turned balusters and newels with a moulded handrail. An adjoining cottage to the south is not of interest.
