Description

This guidestone, likely from the early to mid 19th century, may be a re-used quoin stone. It is made of sandstone and features chamfered edges on top of a boulder wall. The guidestone measures approximately 3 feet long on each face and stands about 1 foot high. There are inscriptions in Roman lettering on two faces: the south face reads "TO BROUGHTON/ TO WHITEHAVEN/ BY RAVENGLASS," and the east face reads "TO BROUGHTON/ TO WHITEHAVEN/ BY MUNCASTER."
